Cumi has followed the historical immigrant's path through FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) and the garment trade, where she worked with designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang and Peter Som.
Incapacitated by a bicycle accident and therefore unemployed for a year, she restlessly began sewing and soon came to see her creations as a culmination of both her personal travels and the international influences of her commercial career.
The children of the world should experience global cultures as the threads woven into their clothing and run through playgrounds as incarnate internationalists. The best garments are handmade, and timeless rather than trendy, clothing that coaches kids to widen their perspectives. She formerly owned Cumi's Baby Boutique in Chelsea and, like those children with their (hopefully) widened perspectives, she now expands onto the World Wide Web.
